AI processing and your OK

2 min read

Ruxpin uses one AI provider to turn your thoughts into text and reflect them back. Nothing is sent until you have said yes in the app, and this page says exactly what is sent and to whom.

The screen you meet first

The first screen after you sign in is headed Ruxpin uses AI. It says plainly what happens to a thought once you speak or type it: Ruxpin sends it to Google's Gemini AI service to turn it into text, tidy it up, file it under a source, and reflect it back to you later. It lists what gets sent and what never is, and it asks for your OK with Allow and continue.

The Ruxpin uses AI screen: what gets sent, what never is, Allow and continue over Not now

Tap Allow and continue and that is the last time Ruxpin asks. Tap Not now and you can still look around, but nothing you capture is sent anywhere until you say so: the moment something would first be sent, the same words come back as a sheet with Allow and send (a capture) or Allow and ask (a question to Rux), and the thought or question waits safely on your phone. Our servers enforce the same rule: without your OK, no thought is transcribed, tidied, reflected on, or drawn into a portrait, whatever the app asks.

What is sent, per feature

  • Your voice recording, so it can be turned into text. It is transcribed then deleted from our servers; we keep the words, not the sound.
  • The text of your thoughts, and metadata from your entries and sources, such as title and author, so an entry can be tidied and filed.
  • Your entry data when you talk to Rux, when your Reader portrait is written or your themes are grouped, and when you search your record by meaning.

What is never sent

Your name, email address, Apple ID or other sign-in details, device identifiers, payment details, and any book text (Ruxpin holds none). Google processes it as our service provider, uses it only to provide the specific feature that sent it, and does not use it to train its models.

Rereading it later

Profile → AI processing reopens the same words any time. There is no switch to turn AI processing off, because Ruxpin does not work without it; if you change your mind, deleting your account removes everything (see Your data & deleting). The Privacy Policy has the full version, including the terms Google processes the data under.
