Ruxpin, as it grows

You can post your record now. Open the Reader tab, scroll to the bottom, and tap Share your record. Ruxpin draws a card with your counts on it, and if your portrait has been written you can put a line from it on the card too.

Three smaller things. The Lock Screen widget walkthrough now has a permanent home on your Profile, so you can go back to it. The control showing where a thought will be filed stays on screen while you record, instead of vanishing when you start. And a thought captured with no signal keeps the day you actually spoke it, so a flight no longer breaks your streak.

Ruxpin is out. After a few months of building it quietly, you can download it today on any iPhone running iOS 16.4 or later.

Your first 30 days are open, and nothing is charged until you decide to stay. If you have been testing through TestFlight, nothing changes for you and your record comes with you either way. If you have been waiting for this, the app is the easy part: open it, press record, and say something about whatever you're reading.

Before your first thought, Ruxpin now shows a screen headed Ruxpin uses AI. It says what leaves your phone when you speak or type: the words go to Google's Gemini AI service to be turned into text, tidied up, filed under a source, and reflected back to you later. It also says what never goes, which is your name, email, Apple ID, device and payment details.

Nothing is sent until you tap Allow and continue, and our servers won't process a thought without it. You can read the whole thing again whenever you like under AI processing on your Profile.

The line at the top of your Reader tab used to come from your sixty most recent thoughts. That worked well enough early on, but if you'd been capturing for a while it meant your portrait only really knew your last couple of months.

Now it draws on everything you've captured, so a thought from a book you finished last year can turn up in it again. Range and Synthesis look at your whole record too, so a month spent deep in one book won't read as a narrow reader.

• Rux now dresses for the date: ice cream in July, reading glasses in September, a scarf in December. Two looks are about you instead, a rosette when your streak hits seven, thirty or a hundred, and a book for a day or two after a new reading. Meet Rux.
• "What Rux remembers" in Profile is now Reader file. Same page, same Forget everything.
• Fixed: asking Rux something out loud could hang on "Transcribing what you said…" and never finish.
• Fixed: tapping a citation, or the first step of a trail, could bump you to the Home tab. Both keep you put now.

The last few weeks were spent on a hundred small things rather than one big one. The Library sorts and stars; every drawer opens at the same height and closes the same way; a source page maps where in the book your thoughts land; and Rux, the small sitting dog, now keeps you company while you speak. If something reads better than it did, that was the point.

• The two typefaces Ruxpin sets your thoughts in were made by people who gave them away. They have a page now: Acknowledgements, linked from the foot of your Profile beside Privacy and Terms.
• While counting them we found Ruxpin was carrying 32 font files and using eight. It carries eight now, so updates are a little lighter.
• Underneath, everything Ruxpin is built on moved up to its current version. You shouldn't be able to tell, which is the whole ambition.

• Muse is now Rux, and he has a look: a small dog who turns up wherever you'd ask him something. More on Rux.
• Your streak stopped nagging. It speaks up at real milestones now and stays quiet otherwise.
• One star per thought, not one per line inside it. How starring works.
• Opening a thought shows how you got there: a trail back to its book, up at the top.
• Fixed: a capture made offline could be uploaded and analyzed twice. Now it happens once.
• Fixed: a recording that failed to save could sit on "Saving…" forever. It now tells you and lets you retry.

• Sign in is the button now, so tap it if you're back. New here? Create account sits right below. More on signing in.
• Tap your sign-in link on your phone and Ruxpin opens itself. No more hunting for the right button in the email.
• Long thoughts don't get cut off by your phone's auto-lock anymore. The screen stays awake for as long as you're recording.
• Our emails come from support@ruxpin.app now.
• Fixed: Muse occasionally said a reflection "drew on 1 of your entry." It says entries now, like a normal sentence.

• Every pull-up drawer now opens at the same height: capture, Muse, feedback, the source picker, and the subscribe screen were all slightly different, and the subscribe screen most of all.
• The screen after your free month ends says less and says it clearer.
• Typing in a drawer keeps your button above the keyboard. It didn't always, in the ones that open on top of other drawers.

Dogear is now Ruxpin, named for Ted's dog. The folded corner in the icon has always been an ear; now it belongs to someone.

Nothing about your record changes. Same entries, same sources, same reflections, same reading vitals. Sign in the way you always have and everything is exactly where you left it.

Two practical notes:

• If you're on TestFlight, the app now appears as Ruxpin, starting over at build 1. That's not a rollback. The new name gets its own listing, and its build count starts fresh.
• The web home is now ruxpin.app. Old links and anything you've bookmarked keep working, so nothing breaks.

Older entries in this feed still say Dogear. That's deliberate. They're a record of what shipped and when.

• Guides open in a sheet, right over your page, with no detour through Safari.
• What's new lives here now, on the web and in the app.
• Dogear allows itself one quiet suggestion at a time, a line under the streak band you can dismiss for good.

• Show & Order pills arrange the Library by kind, stars, recency, thought count, or title.
• Sources wear their kind at a glance: book, article, other.
• One Muse box everywhere: Home, source, entry.
• Chrome that holds still, a wordmark that goes Home, sign out in the menu.
• The Reader epigraph in its own bookplate, with an honest colophon.

Every line above started as a shake-the-phone note. Keep them coming.

• Threads. Conversations pick up where you left them; a thread rests after two weeks of quiet.
• Memory. A small, readable memory of you as a reader. See every word in Profile → What Muse remembers, erase it any time.
• Citations stay strictly yours: memory shapes the voice, never the evidence. More in the Muse guide.
