Signing in

3 min read

Ruxpin signs you in with your email and a password, or with your Apple ID. You set a password once when you create your record; after that, signing in doesn't need your inbox.

The first screen

Open the app signed out and you'll see three ways in: Sign in with Apple, Sign in, and Create account. Apple serves first-time and returning readers alike. It either starts your record or signs you back into it. The other two open a focused screen.

Creating your record

Tap Create account for Start your record. Enter your email and a password (at least 8 characters), then tap Create account. We email a confirmation link; tap it once. Leave Ruxpin open on the Check your email screen while you do and it carries on into the app by itself. If you closed Ruxpin, open it and sign in with your email and password.

Records only start in the iPhone app. The web account page can sign you into an existing record, but it can't create a new one.

The first thing you see once you're in is a short screen about how Ruxpin uses AI, before anything is captured; Getting started walks through it.

Signing in

Tap Sign in for Welcome back. Enter your email and password and tap Sign in. Whichever way you first signed in, that's the one that gets you back to the same record.

Forgot your password? Tap Forgot password?, and if a record uses that address we'll email an 8-digit code. Type it into the box on that same screen and Ruxpin takes you straight to Set a new password. The code works once and expires within the hour. We'll never ask you for it. Only ever type it into Ruxpin yourself.

Trouble? Email me a link instead

If password sign-in isn't working, a quiet Trouble? Email me a link instead link sits below the form. It emails whatever's right for that address: a sign-in link, a nudge to use Apple if that's how your record was made, or a link to start a new record if the address is new here. The screen reads the same either way, so a stranger trying a random address learns nothing about who has a Ruxpin record.

When a link says it didn't work

Links work once and expire within the hour, so a second tap on one you've already used will fail.

The other common cause isn't you: Outlook and most work email scan links for safety before you see them, and that scan uses the link up. If it happens while you're confirming a new account, your address is confirmed anyway. Go back to Ruxpin and sign in with your email and password.

Password resets send a code rather than a link for exactly this reason. Nothing can open a code on your behalf.

On the web

Sign in sits at the foot of every page on ruxpin.app and opens your account, where your email and password sign you in to an existing record. Forgot password? emails the same 8-digit code. Enter it there and you'll land signed in, with the password control ready to choose a new one. Email me a link instead only ever sends an ordinary sign-in link here; it doesn't have the app's Apple nudge or new-record link. As in the app, the screen never says whether anything was sent, so it isn't a way to check whether an address has a record.

One account per email

Your email address is your record. Signing in with a different address starts a separate, empty record. It doesn't merge.

If you chose Hide My Email with Apple, your record lives under the private relay address Apple created. It shows as "Apple · private relay" in Ruxpin, and Sign in with Apple is how you reach it.

Moving to a new address

There's no in-app email change. If you need your record moved to a new address, contact us from the address on the account and we'll sort it out.

Signing out

Tap the round Ruxpin button top-right and choose Sign out, at the bottom of that menu. Signing out doesn't touch your record. Sign back in and everything is where you left it.
